Rouse signs on with Packers

The Green Bay Packers signed their second draft pick of the 2007 class when safety Aaron Rouse of Virginia Tech agreed to terms with the team.

Standing at 6' 4" Rouse will compete for playing time and possibly a starting position with the Packers who are weak at safety opposite Nick Collins. Marquand Manuel is the incumbent starter, but he is no lock for the starting spot. Also in contention are Atari Bigby, Marviel Underwood, and Tyrone Culver.

It's nice to see the Virgina Tech players sign with the team fairly quickly instead of holding out for the most money possible. Perhaps the shooting incident at the college has given the players a little perspective that money is not the only thing in life. On the other hand, maybe they just have agents who got them what they need.
