Credit Sanders for aggresive plan

Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Bob Sanders deserves credit for an aggresive game plan that put a lot of pressure on returning St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "In what might have been his most aggressive game plan since becoming defensive coordinator last year, Sanders sent an extra rusher at St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger a dozen or more times, using a combination of all three linebackers, safety Atari Bigby and even cornerback Charles Woodson."

Barnett walked away with two sacks, Hawk with one, and Bigby had another outstanding game with two interceptions in addition to being a pest on the pass rush.

It was importatant that players that didn't play along the defensive line help to take some pressure off of the front four.

"Going into the game, 30½ of the team's 32 sacks came from its defensive line," reports Silverstein. "But season-ending injuries to Johnny Jolly and Colin Cole have put more stress on the front four and back-to-back games without a sack apparently motivated McCarthy and Sanders to try something different."
