Coston out, Thompson in

Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Junius Coston has been placed on season ending injured reserve meaning he won't play at all during the playoffs.

"Coston sustained a strained calf in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Detroit Lions," reports Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "His injury means Daryn Colledge is virtually assured of starting at left guard in the Jan. 12 divisional playoff game."

Meanwhile, practice squad tackle Orrin Thompson has been elevated to the 53 man roster to take Coston's place.

Railbird Central mused a mere two days ago that Thompson could be the most likely candidate to be elevated to the active roster should a player go down.

Thompson was on the active roster for four weeks earlier in the season.

A least there won't be a whole lot of shuffling for the remainder of the playoffs. Players will be locked into positions. Chad Clifton and Orrin Thompson will most likely practice exclusively at left tackle. Colledge and Allen Barbre won't shift away from left guard. Scott Wells is set at center. Jason Spitz and Tony Moll will practice at right guard. And Mark Tauscher will hold court at right tackle
