The Green Bay Packers have reportedly come to an agreement with head coach Mike McCarthy on a new five year deal worth $4 million per season.
The average NFL coach makes $3.4 million a year.
McCarthy will apparently wait until after this weekend's game to make the deal official and sign his contract in an attempt to minimize distractions.
The problem with that is by announcing his impending deal, does it make it any less of a distraction? The media and the public now know of the deal, which will make a topic of conversation in the remaining time leading up to the game.
Seeing as the players will basically be off limits to the media from here until after the game on Sunday, maybe it won't be much of a problem as one might think.
Regardless, McCarthy's deserved it.
