A new face

Tackle Orrin Thompson's promotion to the 53 man roster opened up a spot on the practice squad, which was filled very quickly.

"New practice squad guard Ryan Keenan was on the field," reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Greg Bedard from Packers practice Friday. "The 6-foot-4, 299-pound rookie from Northwestern has spent time with the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts this season. He wore No. 61."

With injuries to both Jason Spitz and Junius Coston, the Packers now have three guards on the practice squad. It appears they're preparing for the worst along the road to the playoffs in case the injury to Spitz becomes worse.

It should be noted that Spitz didn't practice today and probably won't until after this weekend as he continues to recuperate.
