Packers to bomb away

It's finally here. The NFC Championship game is upon us. The right to play for the Super Bowl is on the line. And it's going to be freezing at Lambeau Field.

So just how are the Packers going to overcome the elements to land themselves in Tempe two weeks from now?

They're going to go deep.

The Packers are known for the short passing game, slants and screens that hopefully are turned into big plays in yards after the catch. They'll be doing a little bit of that, but they're going to go deep too.

With the sub-freezing temperatures, it's going to be hard to catch a Brett Favre fastball. I wouldn't expect many 15+ yard strikes from the ol' gunslinger today. Some of those balls are going to be dropped.

Instead, look for the run to set up the deep ball. A steady dose of Ryan Grant will be able to set up the play action fake and then throw the ball 40 yards downfield.

Deep balls are going to be much easier to catch than those 20 yard fastballs. All the wide receivers have to do is settle in underneath the ball.

Expect it to happen several times today. And expect a berth in the Super Bowl too.

More on the game tomorrow. I'll be there, and hopefully I won't freeze.
