Packers busy in Indy

The Green Bay Packers are busy in Indianapolis at the Combine scouting potential tight ends now that Bubba Franks is gone.

And surprisingly, they're scouting not only potential rookies but a free agent too.

Instead of visiting potential suitors city by city, free agent tight end Alge Crumpler has just decided to head to Indianapolis for the Combine since that's where all the general managers in the NFL are at anyway this week.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Crumpler, himself, said that the Packers were one of the teams that he may meet with.

Jeff Schultz of the Journal-Constitution writes, "Crumpler listed at least seven teams that he might meet with: Green Bay, Buffalo, Detroit, Seattle, Carolina, Tampa Bay and Tennessee."

Heading to Indy sounds a heck of a lot better than touring the country by commercial airplane day by day.

"My agent was getting so many phone calls that I thought it would easier just to go there and meet with everybody," Crumpler told the newspaper. "I really didn't want to go to five or six cities around the country."

The Packers are going the traditional route of meeting with college tight ends as well.

TFY Draft says that the Packers were one of three teams that Texas tight end JerMichael Finley (pictured) was interviewing with at the Combine.
