Packers contact Green

The Green Bay Packers are definitely going in the direction of having an older, veteran player to be a mentor at the quarterback position as they have contacted Trent Green.

Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports, "Former Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl quarterback Trent Green became the latest entry into the sweepstakes to be Rodgers' veteran backup as the team contacted his agent, Jim Steiner, in recent days."

The Packers have now contacted at least Green and fellow veteran Mark Brunell as quarterback possibilities.

The probability of the Packers brining in a younger player such as Jacksonville's Quinn Gray is becoming less and less likely by the hour since Brett Favre's retirement.

Green, of course, has been troubled by concussions for a couple years now, but when he's healthy he's had two Pro Bowl seasons earlier this decade.
