Packers scouting Boston College

The Green Bay Packers were reportedly in attendance at Boston College's pro day to watch 2008 rookie prospects work out.

According to Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "Got word that the only Packers representative at today's Boston College pro day, where QB Matt Ryan is doing his only workout, was John Dorsey, the team's director of college scouting. So if anybody out there had visions of the Packers trading up to get Ryan - probably not many of you - it's not likely to happen since Ted Thompson and Mike McCarthy almost certainly would be there."

If that's the case, our feelings at Railbird Central are not hurt. As we've said before and we'll say again, we're big fans of Josh Johnson of San Diego. We can wait for him instead of spending a first rounder on Ryan. Other positions need to be addressed in the first round where a good player might step in immediately.

One of the better performances turned at Boston College was that of running back Andre Callendar (pictured).

"Running back Andre Callender was also swift, turning in times of 4.46 and 4.43 seconds in the forty," report the guys at TFY Draft. "Callender, who measured 5'10" and 199-pounds, posted 31-inches in the vertical jump and 10'3" in the broad jump. He participated in the pass catching workout and caught everything thrown in his direction."

It's hard to forget Callendar's touchdown versus Virginia Tech this past season that made Boston College the number one team in the country. He'll make a better late round prospect than DeShawn Wynn was a year ago.

And of course, we can only hope that the Packers are taking a look at ball hawking safety Jamie Silva.
