In any case, it's time to update our R.I.P. list for free agents that won't be joining the Green Bay Packers this season. Feel free to shed a tear if your favorite free agent wasn't signed.
The Packers won't be signing special teams maven Brendon Ayanbadejo. The Ravens beat them to the punch. On the brights side, that might make signing Tracy White even more of a priority.
Linebacker Boss Bailey has also signed with the Denver Broncos. So that might eliminate the chances of the Broncos pulling White away from Green Bay as well.
The Sporting News projected that the Packers might be players in the Jacob Bell sweepstakes to upgrade the guard position along the offensive line. However, the Rams decided to upgrade theirs first and grabbed Bell off the streets.
Lance Briggs re-upped with the Chicago Bears ending any hopes that the Packers would make a huge splash in free agency despite their salary cap room.
Forget about Donald Lee and Alge Crumpler making one of the best tight end duos in the NFL. Crumpler signed with the Tennessee Titans.
T.J. Duckett wasn't able to form a 1-2 punch with Ryan Grant in Green Bay either. Duckett went to Seattle with Mike Wahle.
The single best offensive lineman on the market cashed in big time when Alan Faneca joined the New York Jets.
Ben Hartsock took Crumpler's place in Atlanta. Good luck with that. And fellow Tennessee tight end Ben Troupe is enjoying the beaches around Tampa Bay.
Aaron Kampman won't see a bookend defensive end like Travis LaBoy, because he took his game to Arizona. And teammate Antwan Odom decided to become a Bengal.
Meanwhile, Bobby McCray took any possible sacks with him to New Orleans.
Guard Ryan Lilja resigned with the Colts.
Asante Samuel struck it rich with the Philadelphia Eagles. It would have been a crowded secondary with Samuel, Al Harris and Charles Woodson anyway.
Randy Moss obviously resigned with the New England Patriots. Otherwise, Brett Favre wouldn't have retired. *chuckles*
Despite Javon Walker's interest in coming back to Green Bay, he ended up in pergutory, err Oakland.
