Scott Wells talks football

Even though the Green Bay Packers have lost long snapper Rob Davis to retirement, center Scott Wells isn't going to take the job over.

In an interview with Wayne Larrivee and Bill Michaels on Milwaukee's WTMJ radio and in front of the audience at the Packers draft party, Wells said he would only be an emergency long snapper.

"I can do an okay job if I had to, but I rather wouldn't," Wells said.

He has plenty of admiration for players like Davis too.

"I think it's one of those things where people can either do it or they can't," said Wells.

Hopefully the Packers won't need Wells. They've already signed long snapper Thomas Gafford to a contract.

And if the prediction in the April 21 issue of the Sporting News comes true, the Packers could find another. They see Green Bay drafting Indiana long snapper Tim Bugg in the seventh round.
