Considine and others get a shot

The Green Bay Packers ended up signing three of their undrafted rookie tryout players to free agent contracts following orientation camp this past weekend including offensive lineman Ryan Considine of Louisiana Tech.

Considine spent most of his time at left tackle during rookie camp, but according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, he has a little more versatility than just that.

"During his college career at Louisiana Tech, Considine said, he played every position along the offensive line and even picked up deep snapping as yet another skill to offer with an eye toward making it to the NFL," writes Tobias Lopez of the Star-Telegram.

Among the other players the Packers signed were cornerbacks Kyle Ward of Louisiana-Lafayette and Condrew Allen of Portland State. Ward was used sparingly in college because of injuries but supposedly is an athletic specimen, while little is know of Allen.

Apparently plans to also sign Arkansas defensive tackle Fred Bledsoe have been put on hold since he is having athroscopic ankle surgery. He remains unsigned at the moment, although he may be signed in the future.

On a related note, the NFL recently released figures regarding the amount of money all NFL teams have to sign their rookie draft choices.

"The Packers will have $4,076,190 to sign their rookies," reports Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "That ranks 19th out of 32 teams."

The Packers rank among the bottom half of the league in part because of their decision to trade away their first round draft choice.
