Fullback Battle

Should Korey Hall be retained as the true starter at fullback? Or should his backup John Kuhn continue to be the backup? Or should Mike Peterson replace either one of them? Korey Hall did not do anything special being the full time fullback but was important on special team coverages. Could it be time to bring in another big thump er like John Kuhn for blocking purposes? Was that the sole intention in bringin in Mike Peterson? I do not think it was. Mike Peterson is very good in the passing game as well. That bodes well for a changing of the guard right there.

Here's why I think that would be a possibility of happening. Korey Hall was under weight at 230 pounds to be an effective blocker. Korey has bulk up to 236 pounds, but I still do not know if that will be enough to be an better blocker. Only when John Kuhn became familiar with the offense did anyone see the Packer offense have the ability to break off long runs against tough opponents like the 31 yard rush from Ryan Grant against the Vikings or Grants 60+ yard run against the Cowboys, or DeShawn Wynn's 40 yard run up the gut against the Bears. All these and many others started to happen on a consistent basis for the Packers offense in the second half of the year.

Korey Hall was really never a pass catching threat out of the backfield either, so why should the Packers keep him? It can be just for special teams. Well, if the Packers do keep Korey Hall, Green Bay will be losing out on a player, like Mike Peterson, that can provide a benefit to Green Bay's offense in a couple of ways. One, Peterson is 6-2, 257 pounds around the same dimensions as John Kuhn. With that being said, Mike Peterson will be able to block in the similar fashion as John Kuhn, if Mike can pick up the complexities of the zone blocking scheme. The added feature that Peterson can catch the ball effectively. Something that either Korey Hall and John Kuhn seem to have issues with.

There might be something in the winds of change with the fullback position and it might involve Mike Patterson.

I'm not such if you remember or not who the starter was. (Hall) He started over John Kuhn, which I think means something right?(Yes) Does it mean they think Kuhn is better?(No) Does it mean they think Hall is better? (Yes) Did Hall do a great job? (NO) did he do a good job?(Yes) Can Kuhn catch? (Yes he has 3 catches in 2 years) Can Peterson block? (I've seen him try I haven't seen him block any body yet, and I haven't seen him play FB ever)

Do you know whats funny? Hall is the one that came up with a great block on that play, he knock the MLB to the ground.

Hall is currently the best FB we got, and it doesn't matter his size or if he's a "big thump er" it matter he does he's job, which he has better played FB better than anybody else on this team.

It's not about who can do one single thing great, it's about who can do every thing asked on them. And then who's the best of that group.

Peterson is more of a TE than a FB (see Packers.com). Yes the Packers sometimes put their TE in at FB for a play or two, but if Peterson is in the FB group I have him at last behind both Ryan Powdrell and Corey White.

And I have Hall ahead of Kuhn.

I like Peterson but he's more of a TE than FB.

Also it's not about what they look like or how they play, it's about them doing their job and Hall has done a very good job.

Look it was stated that the starter was Korey Hall...Whats the beef...

Green Bay is getting to a point where the Mike Peterson's only make it on a team if he plays another position like FB.

Mike sounds like a tough customer but if he can not block then he will be gone. Mike should be able to make some noise in training camp, which has not started yet.

I like the Peterson story, but the proof will be on the field. Hall proved it over the course of a season, irrespective of his weight. I of course prefer the 'bangers and 'brusiers'... but we've had plenty of those (on both sides of the ball) that never panned out because they weren't assignment-sure. If Peterson can prove himself more assignment-sure than Hall or Kuhn, definitely keep him... but I'll take proficiency over 'combine stud' any day. As TT has said, he wants football players.

That would be awesome in Peterson could develop into William Henderson Jr., who was always good for a 15 yard swing pass on a crucial third down.

My beef is that it's sounds like Hall is/was the weak link, and there was someone better on the team. Well then why didn't the "better" back-up start? (Because he wasn't better, according to the coaches, you know those guys that don't have a clue what there talking about)

Hall was the best FB last year.

Korey Hall rocks. Period.

Mike Peterson should be a fullback not a tight end. He is better suited coming out of the backfield. I do not know about his blocking though.
