The great debate

Ever since the day Brett Favre retired, there has been talk about naming a street after him in Green Bay -- maybe even a Wisconsin highway. Technically, there is a tiny little thoroughfare named Brett Favre Pass, but supposedly that won't be enough.

That has fueled a debate in and around Green Bay about streets being named after Packers. There are already streets named after such Packer legends like Vince Lombardi, Bart Starr and Tony Canadeo, among others.
Some people think there's too many streets named after Packers. Some think there's not enough.

One reader was prompted enough to write a letter to the editor of a Gannett newspaper indicating that seeing as Brett Favre deserves a street named after him, so should fellow Packer Arnie Herber. He is after all, a Green Bay native in addition to being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

On the other hand, another reader (who acknowledges that he is an avid Packer fan) doesn't think that a street should be named after Favre for fear of the confusion it would create re-naming existing streets.

Of course a street should be named after the Great one. It should be a main street that is well traveled.
