Last year's first round draft pick, defensive tackle Justin Harrell, will be viewing the Organized Team Activities (OTAs) from the sidelines as he recovers from injury.
You'll remember that the same thing happened last year with Harrell as well. Due to his torn biceps, he had to sit out of the offseason workouts during his rookie year. This year it's his back that's ailing him.
Harrell has company, though. Both defensive tackle Johnnny Jolly and cornerback Will Blackmon will be sitting out all of the OTAs as well. None will practice at all during the next four weeks, but according to the Packers official website, they should all be ready for training camp.
And to make things even thinner along the defensive line, Colin Cole and Daniel Muir are also sitting out of OTAs to begin with, although they could return in the upcoming days and weeks.
They're joined by John Kuhn, Cameron Stephenson, Tory Humphrey, Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila and Abdul Hodge as players who will be sitting out initially, but could return before the next month is over.
There is some good news, though.
According to Mike Spofford of Packers.com, "Among other players who ended last season on injured reserve, running backs Noah Herron (knee), DeShawn Wynn (shoulder) and Ryan Powdrell (knee), along with offensive lineman Junius Coston (calf) and safety Tyrone Culver (shoulder), have been cleared to participate in OTAs."
